Congratulations to Joseph Sanderson of Hydaburg, Alaska for graduating
from Hydaburg High School with high honors as Valedictorian of
his senior class. Joseph's dream is to become a doctor and to
come back to Hydaburg and work for his people. Joseph has joined
the Navy and will be a hospital corpsman. He reports for duty
in September. Joseph is an apprentice for the Haida Language
Program, he's gone to Chicago for the Lead America Medicine and
Healthcare, he's attended the Ethel Lund VHOP Program in Sitka,
Alaska, he's got various certificates in scuba diving, he's active
in the local EMS Squad, and search and rescue for POW, he graduated
from the Prince of Wales Construction Academy in Klawock, Alaska,
(where he attended high school for his junior year), he's been
on Klawock's high school basketball team, playing basketball
his freshman year for Hydaburg high school, and many more accomplishments
throughout his growing up years.
We are very proud of Joseph
and we know he will succeed. He's continued to keep his eye
on his goal despite a few stumbling blocks in his way (none of
his own making) and has become a stronger person for it. Just
when we think we can't be prouder of this fine young man, he
does something else to make us prouder. Although we will miss
him when he goes to the Navy we know he will return home and
once again serve the community of Hydaburg. We love you very
much grandson!
