HIGH SCHOOL WELDING STUDENTS BUILD RAPTOR STANDS

Ketchikan, Alaska - Ketchikan High School and Revilla High School welding students created 4 raptor stands and presented them to representatives from Ketchikan Indian Community's Deer Mountain Tribal Hatchery and Eagle Center during a celebratory, year-end thank you BBQ for the students on April 30, 2008, at UAS Ketchikan's Tech Center.

The students are pictured with the raptor stands they created. Also pictured is a representative from the Ketchikan Indian Community's Deer Mountain Tribal Hatchery and Eagle Center, with a peregrine falcon he brought along . This was a public service project by Ketchikan area high school welding students in conjunction with UAS Ketchikan

In attendance from the Hatchery and Eagle Center were Tammy Sivertsen, Jerry Guthrie, Damon Hempel, and Pat Williams.

The stands will be used during demonstrations and also when exercising the birds. The welding students often practice their skills by doing various community service projects. In addition to the raptor stands, they also built a wood stove for a local resident.
