Ketchikan, Alaska - Members from the North Tongass Volunteer
Fire Department were in attendance to accept awards at the 26th
Annual South East Region EMS Council (SEREMS) symposium held
in Juneau, on April 24, 2010.
Fire Chief David Hull
(left) was in attendance to accept for North Tongass Volunteer
Fire Department the EMS Service of the Year Award, Captain Jerry
Kiffer (center) received the Neighbor Helping Neighbor Award,
and Firefighter/EMT Greg Brown (right) received the Neighbor
Helping Neighbor Award,

Firefighter/EMT Greg Brown received the Neighbor Helping Neighbor
Award for his life saving actions while responding to a cardiac
arrest victim, due to in part to Brown's actions the patent survived
his arrest and is recovering well.
Captain Jerry Kiffer (center) received the Neighbor Helping Neighbor
Award for his dedication and commitment to the North Tongass
Volunteer Fire Department.
Fire Chief David Hull (left) was in attendance to accept for
North Tongass Volunteer Fire Department the EMS Service of the
Year Award this, a prestigious award is for their "Outstanding
pre-hospital medical care provided to the community of Ketchikan."
This award recognizes the many department members who day or
night and at a moment's notice will drop what they are doing,
to respond to a request for assistance. Hundreds of hours are
spent each year training and honing skills in order to provide
the quality of care the Ketchikan community has grown to appreciate.
