Nine graduate from Ketchikan Construction Academy

(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - The Southern Southeast Alaska Technical Education Center located in Ketchikan announced the graduation of nine students May 3, 2014 from the Ketchikan Construction Academy.
The graduates are front row from left: Brandon Demmert, Laura Bartholomew, Wilbur Young, Bonnie Morris, Kirk Robertson and Dustin Armey.

The students completed an 8-week program that consisted of the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) core curriculum and multiple construction safety certifications. Students also participated in hands on training by hanging sheetrock with Ketchikan Indian Community (KIC) on the 201 Deermount project, replacement of a deck on a home, building a storage shed for Ketchikan Youth Initiatives, and building access platforms for the University of Alaska, Ketchikan.
The Ketchikan Construction Academy is funded by a grant through the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
