Ostracize Bigots

By Donald A. Moskowitz

Letter to the Editor:

The despicable remarks by Robert Copeland, a police commissioner, Wolfeboro, NH; Donald Sterling, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers; Kanye West, singer; Louis Farrakhan, spokesman for Nation of Islam; Clevin Bundy, Nevada rancher; and Glenn Miller, Kansas killer and Ku Klux Klan member; show there are still ignorant radicals in this country.

People who espouse these beliefs are failures in one or more facets of life. They are uneducated or undereducated, might have been abused when younger, might have significant marriage or family problems, or have not been successful in the world, or think they can say or do anything because of their presumptive power.
The common trait of the bigots is they have some form of jealousy for the success of people they hate. Their bigotry makes them feel more important by putting down other people.

Although we continue to have some bigotry in this country, things have improved, and it is less prevalent compared to many other countries in the world. However, we have to continue to eliminate discrimination and bigotry in matters of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, weaknesses and disabilities. This is everyone’s responsibility. Bigots should be ferreted out and ostracized from civil society.
