Adds August PRAXIS Testing Date June 07, 2005 Ketchikan, Alaska - Teachers interested in taking either the PRAXIS I or PRAXIS II for the upcoming academic year will have an opportunity in August. UAS Ketchikan has been added to the August 6, 2005 administration of PRAXIS I and II exams. Teachers must register with ETS by July 7, 2005 in order to take the exam(s) in August. Teachers can register on the web at www.ets.org. The PRAXIS I exams qualify teachers to become certified in the State of Alaska and the PRAXIS II exams qualify teachers to become certified for the No Child Left Behind legislation. The UAS Ketchikan Learning Center is located on the main campus, 2600 Seventh Avenue, in the Paul Building Forum Room A on the fifth floor during the summer while the Ziegler Building is being remodeled. Teachers can contact the Learning Center at 228-4524 for more information. The Learning Center will be open through June 24. Students interested in taking placement assessments for fall classes can contact the Learning Center to schedule an appointment. These assessments are free through the month of June. Beginning August 1, 2005, a fee will be charged for all exams taken at the Learning Center including the placement assessments as well as all other professional exams. The University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan Campus provides a wide variety of educational and vocational courses throughout the year.
