Peter York - A life well lived
and appreciated
By Lynne Miller

Tuesday
It was with sadness that I read the obituary for Peter York Tuesday
morning - a person gone from our community for a few years now
- but not forgotten - never. Peter graced the internet "pages"
of SITNEWS many times with his astute, well informed opinions
in regard to the local, national or international topic of the
day and that is where I first came to "know him". But
it was through working with his wife Nancy at Ketchikan General
Hospital that I grew to appreciate the man he was. Loyal and
loving, kind and caring to her as his life partner and best friend.
All the external attributes and professional titles aside what
I remember most importantly when adding up the sum total of Peter
AND Nancy York is how they marked each day together in committed
solidarity and true love and that is all that truly matters when
taking stock at the end of the day as to a life well lived. I
send my prayers and best wishes to Nancy at the passing of her
life partner through SITNEWS as somehow that seems to me like
a most appropriate venue for expressions of affection and sadness
at the loss of Peter. I will carry the image of Peter and Nancy
York with me all the days of my life - and thank them both for
the privilege of having known both of them. God's peace, Nancy
- and God Bless Peter's soul forever.
