I tried responding to Tom Lecompte's letter several days ago but for some reason the system didn't accept it.

The 4th of July fireworks are purchased, set up and fired by the Ketchikan Lions. It takes several months to obtain all the permits which are already in place for the 4th. Switching dates to the 3rd is not an option this late in the game. As far as future years are concerned, the club's position has always been that July 4th is our nation's birthday.
