The Tongass Conservation Society (TCS) is sponsoring this effort to maintain community conviviality and spirit throughout the busy summertime. The idea sprung from the feeling that many community gatherings ended with the beginning of tourist season. Downtown tends to become centered on the tourist industry and a sense of community is somewhat neglected until autumn. This event works to further community unity by providing a fun opportunity for locals to come together and hang out downtown for music, activities and shopping. 25 local businesses have volunteered to stay open a few extra hours, and the music and activities have been arranged at two venues downtown. TCS and Crow's Nest Internet Café will be hosting the activities of all sorts. And the Startled Salmon at Salmon Landing as wells as Crows Nest Internet Cafe will host music. Local artists and residents will provide activities and entertainment. They will teach skills such as woodcarving or styles of dance and physical movement such as yoga. Also a poetry slam will be organized for one or more of these Tuesdays to encourage the witty linguistic residents to express their flare for poetry, drama or rhyme. One activity will be arranged a night, followed by a movie that will be shown inside Crow's Nest Internet Café. At the other venue, inside Salmon Landing in the Startled Salmon, music will be played by a variety of live bands from within the community. Come hang out with your friends and neighbors....Every Other Tuesday! And if you want your business, your band, or your skill involved, let us know at tara@tongassconservation.org. Tuesday, June 19th
Throughout the Evening: 25 local business will stay open extra hours! Big thanks to them for staying open of the sake of the community! Be sure to shop and hang out with all of 'em Every Other Tuesday!
