Outrage! Private Profit on
public Alaskan Lands
By Norbert Chaudhary

Monday
I read today of the plan by AP&T (Alaska Power and Telephone)
(NOT an Alaskan Company - it is based in Port Townsend,Washington)
to build a dam on PUBLIC LANDS in Southeast Alaska in order to
sell electicity for PRIVATE PROFIT to Canada.
I am shocked and outraged that they have been able to take this
project as far along as they have without any chance for public
comment. This will be a done deal in less than three weeks!!.
Again, this a private out of state company that will be flooding
a WILD public Alaskan river forever - for profit!
As far as I can see - there are NO benefits for any Alaskan or
any American in this deal - unless of course you are a share
holder of the Washington State based AP&T.
Unfortunately THEY have made it difficult for anyone to take
ACTION at this late stage. There are no phone numbers or even
an e-mail address given for you to voice your opinion (another
reason this whole thing smells so bad).
According to the Ketchikan
Daily News (June 25, 2008) - the only way for us to comment
on this is by writing to:
Kimberly D. Bose
Secretary, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
888 First St., NE.
Washington, D.C. 20426
This does not pass the smell
test - do not let another out-of-state company rip our state
off!
Take Action Now!
