Diabetes Educ Classes Offered

Ketchikan, Alaska - Dawn Teplick, RN, Diabetes Educator
for Ketchikan General Hospital will be leading a series of Diabetes
Education classes from 4-6 p.m. on four consecutive Tuesdays,
starting July 13th.
The classes will cover a range
of information and offer learning, sharing and support for people
living with diabetes. Erica Luther, RD, will also be a class
instructor.
The dates and topics for the
classes in the series are:
July 13: Diabetes Basics and Nutrition
July 20: Carbohydrate Counting; Self Blood Sugar Testing;
Low Blood Sugar; Physical Activity
July 27: High Blood Sugar/Sick Day Guidelines; Prevention;
Complications; Healthy Eating
Aug. 3: Meal Planning; Stress; Medications; Sexual Health;
Sleep; Depression; Resources
The eight-hour series will
cost $330 and attendees may bring one additional person free.
Medicare and other insurance will be billed for those eligible.
All classes will meet at the Cedar Point conference room, 25
Jefferson Way, Suite 202, in Ketchikan.
In addition to the classes,
registration also includes two private one-on-one sessions with
the Diabetes Educator. These meetings will help attendees receive
individualized information they can use to set goals for a healthier
lifestyle.
