ONLY FOOLS RUN AT MIDNIGHT ON JUNE 18TH
June 17, 2011
Costumes like this can be sighted at the Eighth Annual Only Fools Run at Midnight Family Fun Run, guaranteed to have more fools running than ever before. On June 18 at 11:59 p.m., hundreds of Ketchikan residents will start running at the Southeast Discovery Center for a 5K-run or 1-mile walk dressed in wild and crazy costumes to raise funds for the Ketchikan branch of Southeast Alaska Independent Living (SAIL). Local businesses have donated prizes that will be awarded to more than half of the participants - race participants, door-prize winners, and those in costume. This includes centipedes - five or more costumed runners or walkers connected in some way. More than 120 people participated as fools in 2010. The glow-in-the-dark Only Fools Run t-shirt has gained a cult status among participants. The first 120 pre-registered participants will receive one of the in-demand shirts. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Early registration closed on June 16. Register June 17 or 18
Runners, walkers, and rollers can register at the SAIL office at 602 Dock Street, Suite 107, online at www.sailinc.org, Fat Stan’s, the Recreation Center, and both First Bank Locations. On Saturday, June 18, registration begins at 10:30 p.m. at the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center. The Only Fools Run At Midnight Costume Contest begins at 11 p.m, Saturday.
