Thieves Among Us

By Tina Singer

Dear Editor:

This past weekend, someone stole a beautiful orange blossomed hanging begonia from my front porch on Baranof Avenue. Not only did they steal from me, but, as this was a mother's day gift, they've also stolen from my son.

If you notice a brand new hanging begonia with bright orange blossoms in a wooden basket that was not hanging at your neighbor's home before this weekend, please call KPD with the information.

In this economy, every penny counts. Many of us do without frivolous things (like replacing stolen hanging flower baskets) in order to make ends meet.

To the person(s) who stole this beautiful mother's day gift, I hope you feel guilt every time you look at it. Though I doubt, with your lack of morals in stealing things that don't belong to you, you have the capacity to feel regret, remorse or guilt. If someone gave you this beautiful plant, then you now know that person is a thief.

I've seen way to many posts lately by locals on Facebook talking about people stealing things from their yards, their cars, or from their kids. This is a blight on our beautiful city.

Thank you, fellow Ketchikan citizens, for any help you may be in tracking this mother's-day-gift thief.

Sincerely,

Tina Singer
