Alaska Pioneer Homes

I read the Ketchikan Daily News June 8, 2015 edition, and on the front page was an article titled "Pioneers' homes among 'low priority". I was shocked! As I continued to read the article I read this sentence "Just about every service of the Dept of Health and Social Services was ranked as critical aside from the Alaska Pioneers' Homes." Are they really saying that our elderly are not as important as our youth? Our seniors deserve the best of care and should never be considered a low priority.
Please let our governor, Senator Bert Stedman and Rep. Dan Ortiz know that this is not acceptable. There are many elders on the active waiting lists and we need more beds not less. Fill those beds and don't hold our seniors hostage to politics.
Our Pioneer Homes should be a top priority, we may all need their services one day.
