Shame, Shame, Shame

It is disappointing to read that at least three members of the
Borough Assembly are up to their old tricks of fleecing taxpayers
again by voting "no" on taxing flightseeing trips out
of Ketchikan. Are these are the same three members who would
spend, spend, spend on special interest grants, and force taxpayers
into sweetheart deals to cover costs for state ferry administrative
building upgrades and maintenance?
While most of us are being forced to pay additional sales and
property taxes, this mindless spending continues. This new tax
proposed by Assembly Member Sarber was a good faith effort to
ask summer visitors to pay a modest share of the public funds
we spend under the name of tourism promotion.
Let's hope that we remember these absurd decisions when it comes
time to vote. Perhaps we can elect citizens who have courage
to represent taxpayers, cut taxes, reduce government spending,
and be less vocal in support of special interests!
