The Commissioner's resignation letter cites the events of the last several days, as reflected in a recent newspaper story, as the reason for the resignation. Acting Commissioner Clough said the resignation is a true loss for the State Of Alaska. "Edgar Blatchford is a man who cares deeply about the state, particularly rural Alaska," said Clough. "He has been tireless in his pursuit for a better life for all Alaskans." Clough has instructed all department directors to continue the good work the department does on a daily basis. Blatchford was appointed Commissioner of the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development in January of 2003. Al Clough was appointed Deputy Commissioner in April of 2003.
