The South Tongass Service area has grown significantly since the station was built in 1985. Plans for the new station include: handicap accessibility, training facilities, housing for overnight volunteers, drive-thru bays for fire apparatus, larger space for hazardous materials cleaning, a community meeting space and community playground. Members of the community are always welcome and encouraged to visit the South Tongass Volunteer Fire Department's current station, new station site and/or to become involved in the planning process for the new station. Thank you Ketchikan for all of your support! Anna Marie Mestas
