Sunday
Please be aware that a neighbor is keeping a baited live trap
for small animals. Our cat was sent to the pound after he was
lured into the trap by a can of opened cat food. We have been
told that this is perfectly legal although I beg to differ that
it is at all neighborly.
We have lived in our neighborhood
for over 2 years and have had our cat for that same amount of
time. There haven't been any "issues" until recently.
Our cat has been an indoor/outdoor cat its entire life. It
was said that our cat was using their garden for a litter box.
I find that odd seeing as how the trap was set again while our
cat was in the pound. At this very moment the trap is there
waiting with a can of opened cat food - visible from the sidewalk.
It was quite traumatic for our 2 and 5 year olds to have their
cat taken away. Due to our children's and my own allergies he
cannot be in the house 24/7. It is unfortunate that after 2
years we are going to have to find Smokey a new home.
Please keep an eye on your animals. If they are missing be sure
to call the pound right away! If they're not there call again
the next day. We called on Tuesday and our cat was picked up
Wednesday or Thursday so we only found out on Sunday by using
the website http://www.borough.ketchikan.ak.us/animal/animal.htm
Sincerely,
Sean Griffin
