I am in shock that someone would question the amount of lifeguards and they're importance to the safety of our children.

The standard lifeguard to person ratio is 25 people to 1 lifeguard. Have you ever tried watching 25 kids? How about 25 kids in a swimming pool? We are so fortunate as a community to have a new pool, and I can only imagine how busy the parks and recreation staff will be. It's better to be safe than sorry.
