Finkenbinder Not A Serious CandidateBy Bob Claus July 29, 2016
Today I had the dubious pleasure of meeting Sheila Finkenbinder, a candidate for State House. She was visiting Prince of Wales Island, a major part of her potential district, for the first time. The major part of her platform appears to be to attack the inexperience of her opponent, Jonathan Kreiss-Tompkins, despite the fact that she has exactly zero experience as an elected official and he is now completing his second successful term as a rural legislator. Ms. Finkenbinder demonstrated her ignorance of the issues facing rural Southeast Alaska by mocking the use of the local library as place to access the Internet and suggesting that rural education could be delivered by You-tube videos. She appeared entirely ignorant of even the geography of Prince of Wales island, much less the issues that concern its citizens. Her solution to the state's fiscal crisis was to make further cuts, while somehow strengthening education and infrastructure spending, and imposing an income tax. Ms. Finkenbinder is not a serious candidate, and I strongly support the incumbent Representative Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins. Bob Claus Received July 26, 2016 - Published July 29, 2016
