What is "extreme" is clear cutting large tracts of land and building roads in the wilderness... polluting and choking pristine spawning rivers and creeks, ruining fragile muskegs and vegetation and displacing the wildlife such as bald eagles, black bears, black-tail deer, wolves, minks, martins and otters out of their habitat. It is obvious to me who the Termite People are... Governor Murkowski, Mayor Salazar, Steve Seley of Pacific Log and Lumber sawmill, Owen Graham of Alaska Forest Association to just name a few in Ketchikan. The same folks that probably are the string pullers for the boondoggle bridge to Gravina Island via Pennock Island that will cost you tax payers $240 Million dollars - and that doesn't include parking spaces at the Ketchikan Airport. They don't need to building roads on Gravina Island nor Pennock Island so opulent people can drive our logs to market at taxpayers expense. Governor Murkowski has made a lot of promises to the termite people. Can the Governor be that arrogant and promise away our timber without the vote of the Legislature and the vote of people? The great white father Governor Frank Murkowski really thinks he owns Gravina Island and Alaska. Gravina Island belonged to the Taan ta Kwaan People or Tongass Tribe until 1867. Then it was stolen with impunity by the United States. Taan ta Kwaan People or Tongass Tribe has not settled with the United States on the Land Claims Act. Technically, the Tongass Tribe still owns Gravina Island and surrounding lands as far as your eyes can see from Gravina Island. Free history lesson. So Frank, don't be giving anything away that doesn't belong to you. This is my own opinion. Don Hoff Jr.
