Time To Recognize Carvers
by Marcie Pungowiyi

Monday
I am very proud of my Aunt Nyna Fleury for starting this Carvers'
Convention. She has accomplished so much. This is something that
can be carried on throughout the years. It is time that carvers
were recognized as an outstanding, hard working group of people.
This type of event will allow our carvers of all stages and ages,
to get together and share ideas and thoughts, and bring new ideas
and talent to the carving community. Aunt thank you for all the
hard work you're doing and giving your home as a place to rest
and home for the totem poles.
It's an honorable thing to
give so freely. I know there are a few who would say otherwise,
but maybe they just wish they had leader qualities like you.
My husband Dennis Pungowiyi
is a Native Ivory carver and is proud to be able to donate a
carving to the convention. Please, if you can help in any way,
get a hold of my Aunt and be a part of this event, it is history
in the making. I would also like to thank Lavern for all her
cooking. Lavern you are the type of person we should all strive
to be.
All in all this is a great
thing for all people. I'm proud of all the carvers and happy
to see a time set aside for them and totem poles honoring the
carvers! Thank you Aunt, Your family is proud of you!!!
Sincerely,
Marcie Pungowiyi
