The 1/2 cent sales tax was not simply to fund the rec center bonds: it is for recreation. The bonds still have several years to pay them off and the additional money generated by the tax subsidizes local recreation programs to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. The borough is also repairing the rotten decks and diving boards at the pool as well as maintaining those poor gravel fields out of public funds (hard earned taxes). It is real easy to snipe, but considering the way this community supports luxuries beyond basic needs (yes, I'm referring to recreation), I think it is sour grapes and misplaced angst. Glen Thompson
