Eye of the Beholder

Why would someone equate long time residence in Ketchikan with
living in a vacuum? There are people living in N.Y.C. and L.A.
who never make it out of their 'hood'. There are people who
travel extensively but remain provincial. Living on an island
does not isolate us. It's only geography.
