It's a wash...

Kudos to M L Dahl for the great letter (especially the "it's
a wash" comment). Over the years I've become philosophical
about the tourists and, in fact, enjoy the craziness they bring
each summer. I do wish they would recognize that Ketchikan was
a thriving little metropolis before (this is where the dead horse
comes in) the whackos decided to destroy our timber industry
and the related jobs that paid a heck of a lot more than those
in the visitor industry. Southeast Alaska is now a park. What
do people in California and Connecticut know about the economic
reality of living here? Walk a mile in my Xtra Tuffs, then tell
me.
