By Gabreal Easterly August 20, 2007 As long as I can remember Steve Kamm has been flying with my father Mark Easterly here in Southeast, my father flew over 30,000 hours and was highly regarded by all that worked with and under him in his 30 in aviation here in Ketchikan until passing away a few years ago. Dad always told me Steve Kamm was one of his best pilots, at Promech. Having worked with Steve for years myself, he was always one of my favorite pilots. Steve was always happy to see me at the airport, this is someone who truly loves to fly, those who truly love flying floats around here can't get enough. These men work grueling hours through the summer months. As a child when I heard the shower turn at 4:00 a.m I would go get my Dad a towel and sit on the toilet so I could talk to with him for a few minutes before he was off to work, knowing that I would be fast asleep by the time Dad got back home. You truly have to love flying to work these kind of hours. This is the kind of love that I have seen Steve Kamm give his whole life to the company he works for, his wife and beautiful children, all his friends and co-workers. This is the kind of love I would like everyone who reads this to send right back to Steve and his family, these our truly wonderful people. I'm calling on all community members to start praying for Steve and the survivors, and family's that been effected by this great tragedy. The Southeast Aviation Community is the strongest group of people I have ever witness in my life, I have traveled the United States in search of something more and this is it, this is the Community that stands together in these times loss. So come on I know most of you already are but let's all try to take a few minutes everyday to start praying for them. Heavenly Father we lift up
Steve and his family and the passengers to you Lord, Father I
ask that you would put yours hands over Steve and let him know
that you are with him each day and he can rest assured that all
of Southeast Alaska knows that he is great pilot and wonderful
friend, we know that Steve did everything could to save all of
the lives on board, and the rest is in your hands father. We
lift up each family member to you Father that you would give
them the strength to carry on. We pray those that have been
lost and those that lived, that you would fill there hearts with
peace and understanding that these things have been taking place
since flight began. Father I pray for all the true heroes of
Alaska, these him and women risk everything, everyday to carry
on the way life in Alaska, help us to remember all that they
have given and let us return the favor with your love and prayer.
In Jesus name, Amen. Gabreal Easterly Received August 18, 2007 - Published August 20, 2007 Viewpoints - Opinion Letters:
