What I don't understand is when did we as a state in the United States of America secede from this great country and become part of the old Russian regime? The last time I looked at the constitution a property owner had the right to rent or lease to anyone as long as what they were doing was legal. So where do you who put this thing that I have to vote on the ballot, get off telling me or anyone else who I can or can not rent to? If I own a building, house or even a car and I want to rent or lease it to someone tell me why I should have to ask permission or you or anyone else. This initiative that is on the ballot is, in my opinion, at the very least immoral and probably will verge on illegal as infringing on someone's rights. I think the Landlord Tenant Act has something about this very issue doesn't it? Is there something about discrimination or race, color and religion in there -- oh yea, and you can't discriminate with the sex of the person either. So if it passes I would guess that this ought to keep the courts jumping for quite a while. I do agree that when they jump out at you from the doorway of their shop they can be annoying but a simple no thank you should suffice, not putting something on the ballot at my (a taxpayer) expense. I think that you should have to pay for it to be on there and the extra printing costs should be on your dime. Like I said, this is my opinion and you don't have to agree with me. I will be praying that there are more people with my opinion than yours. Jerilyn Lester About: " 25 year resident of Alaska, Former Landlord and concerned citizen." Viewpoints - Opinion Letters:
