New Educational Choice Offered for Home Schools
August 05, 2011
Recognizing that a child’s parents are the first and best teachers they will have, the TSAS will provide home schools with quality materials and professional assistance as parents guide their children through TSAS standards based program and introduce children to exciting concepts and experiences. The TSAS literacy curriculum, StoryTown by Harcourt, and the TSAS mathematics curriculum, Everyday Math by McGraw-Hill, are top of the line and well supported by research. In addition, the Tongass School of Ars & Sciences is offering a variety of optional materials for home school use, including a laptop computer. Home schooled children can choose to participate in stimulating grade level activities and extracurricular opportunities, such as Music, Art, GeoBee, Being There Experiences, and Battle of the Books. Terri Robbins, the Tongass Home School Program Coordinator, will be available to answer questions about the program. You can email her at: trobbins@gci.net or contact Robbins by telephone at: 225-5711. Her goal is to assist you in developing, delivering, and improving the home school program parents design for their children.
