She is not a state politico yet, but I'm voting for her for State Rep: AGNES MORAN! I talked to her a couple of weeks ago about this silly section the Dept. of Transportation calls a hiway and the 2" surface of asphalt they put on in a few places which won't last the winter. She responded immediately and at the next borough assembly. meet made it an issue. Agnes got the ball rolling and the assembly went on record to demand that DOT explain to the community when they are finally going to do the job that was scheduled for completion 3 years ago! Through several letters to the editor and personal meetings with officials who attended Ketchikan Chamber Transportaton Committee meetings I had asked this same question for the past 3 years. I even called this killer mile the "Parnell, Stedman, Johansen, Wilson Bypass", because they bypassed and ignored the problem totally. I've heard via the rumor route that bids are supposed to go out this fall and construction will begin next Spring. I've heard that before. Since 1994 to be exact. I've also heard that the hiway will not be up to the standards of the hiway that was recently completed. Literally thousands of folks travel the miserable mile daily. Agnes has made it point to follow up and get the job done right That's the kind of action I like from my representative. Vote for Agnes Moran! Bob Pickrell About: "52 years in Ketchikan.
