We are fortunate to have 3 qualified and capable candidates running in the Republican primary for State Representative from House District 33. I am convinced that the average voter does not appreciate the turmoil, anguish, and vulnerability that these candidates subject themselves (and their families) to when they decide serve their community. For their civic mindedness and their willingness to serve, to each of the candidates, I say Thank You. In my opinion, the representative from District 33 needs to come from Ketchikan. Agnes Moran, from Ketchikan, has been vetted in local politics through the bubbling cauldron known as the Borough Assembly. On the Assembly, Agnes has demonstrated a firm grasp of local issues with state wide implications in the areas of Education, Energy, and Fiscal Policy. Agnes has always been a quick study as her work on the Borough Assembly and her private sector record indicates. It does not take a Rocket Scientist to be a State Representative, but hey - Agnes has been a Rocket Scientist too. Now is the time for Agnes to take the lessons that she has learned from the Assembly and the experience she has gained from serving the community in an elected capacity and represent our community in a broader capacity. On August 28th I plan to vote for Agnes Moran for Alaska State Representative from District 33. Michael J. Elerding Received August 23, 2012 - Published August 27, 2012
