The Celebrity Millennium returned to Ketchikan with tug assist Sunday evening due to problems with one of the ship's two propulsion units according to Cynthia Martinez, director of global corporate communications for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, the parent company of Celebrity.
In a press statement, Martinez said, "The ship is capable of sailing without the affected unit; however, in an abundance of caution, the Captain decided the safer and more prudent action was to return to port to evaluate the issue… While in Ketchikan, our technical teams will make a full inspection of the unit, and assess the need for any necessary repairs."
Heading south, the Celebrity Millennium was scheduled to be in Vancouver on August 23rd. The 965 foot long ship can transport 2158 passengers.
