Wonder why we have low voter turnout?

WOW, I am absolutely amazed. Until now I thought we had a group of reasonable people on the City Council. They wonder why we have low voter turnout. Let's see. People vote one way and the council goes the opposite way.

Why continue to spend our money going forward on a dock expansion project that the voters overwhelmingly rejected at the polls? At last night's council meeting, our City Council thumbed their noses at the voters of Ketchikan and voted to move forward with plans for the project that voters voted down.

This would make a great segment for 60 minutes titled "Small Town Politics at Work". If the people of Ketchikan stand still for this, I guess we deserve what we get. I would appreciate it if readers will please weigh in on this and let me know who has an interest in standing up and trying to get this council in line and show them that Ketchikan really is still part of the USA where people's votes really do matter. Even if you don't have a horse in the race, this is about democracy.

Thank you
