Democracy through the art of voting
By Rick Grams

Here we are Ketchikan, another process of democracy through the art of voting.  I'd like to thank those people who are running for an elected seat.  By simply taking the time out of your life to work with the community of Ketchikan as a whole shows a caring and sincere interest in Ketchikan life.  Personally that is all I expect from any elected official the willingness to work with the community as a whole.

The past voting process brought forth a disappointing 23% of city voters (correct me of I'm wrong there).  I certainly hope that the majority of the Ketchikan population sees fit to cast their ballots on Oct 4, 2005.  If you do not know where to vote, contact the borough or city offices and find out today.

Winston Churchill once noted "Democracy is the worst form of government except for all those others that have been tried."  The most efficient way to improve the process of our local democratic governments is through voting it is our one chance at the individual level to make a difference in our future.  Actually, from my perspective it is an obligation for all of us to honor without hesitation.
