Let's Be Careful Out There
By Dave Kiffer

Editor,

Although school has only been in session a couple of weeks, I have already witnessed three separate incidents in which people - obviously in great hurry - have sped around school buses that have already stopped with their their yellow lights flashing.

I realize that it is only illegal to pass a bus when the red lights are flashing, but really what's the big hurry? Yellow means slow down and prepare to stop, not gun the engine and whip around the school bus to save a few precious seconds. You don't know that a child isn't approaching the bus as it stops. We live in a small town in which people look out for each other (and each other's children). Act like it.
