Some in Ketchikan react to
nomination with concern, ire

Way to go Sarah Palin!!! I for one am thankful that Sarah is
the VP nominee and believe she will do a wonderful job just as
she has proven to do here in Alaska. I regret that the article
I just read in The Juneau Empire states that some in Ketchikan
react to Sarah's nomination with concern and ire.
The article states and I quote:
"Residents of this town of 7,700 wanted the $398 million
bridge to access the airport and some of the out-of-room area's
only remaining developable land."
NOT all of the residents wanted that bridge and we wondered why
we should spend so much money on the "bridge to nowhere"
when the ferry system has been a very useful and adequate system
to access the airport for many years.
Ear marking money for a bridge or anything else is NOT wise use
of our money! Just because some one else needed a bridge and
the money is in the budget for building bridges doesn't mean
we NEED to build a bridge!!!
There are many of the rich and elite of the community wishing
to access the so-called 'developable' land on Gravina! But I
wouldn't say that very many of the local people in general would
want or need access to that very expensive land!
