Sitnews Letter to the Editor,

About a month ago I wrote an opinon and it was posted on Sitnews.  Thank you. I heard many positive reponses from it.  It was titled "Soliers of the Cross Ammor Up!" Thank you.  I also want to thank all those who came to Jesse's Celebration of Life.  The sun shone brightly that day and I am confident he was with us.  Those people continue to support our family through the hardest time in our lives.  We miss Jesse so much words cannot begin to say.  I am only comforted to know that he is with his Lord, finally safe and at peace.  He will always be with us in our hearts.  He was a kind and gentle soul.  He was 38 when he died.

Safe and at peace is something neither he nor our family have been able to find here.  When he was first attacked, in his own home, in bed, asleep, he declined to report it to the Troopers stating, " I went to K-High with him, we used to be friends, and maybe he's got it out of his sytem now."

When he finally agreed to report the assault to the Troopers, the Trooper my husband spoke with assured him that there was still time to make a report (approx. 1 month), especially when the harrassment continued; by text, Face Book, stealing things from the outside of his home, by phone, and by making personal threats to our son and his girlfriend and driving up and down Chandler Rd. N. where they lived. The Trooper never called back to assist in making the report or came to our home as requested to make the report.

Then it happened, our son was dead!  The Trooper who was in charge of our son's case said yesterday that he has called and spoken with me 3 times.  Once the day after our son died.  Perhaps I was too over come by grief, but I do not remember that call or the other 2 calls he says he made.  Everytime I called The Troopers to inquire about our son's case and there were many times, I was told "that" Trooper was not available but that a message would be given to him, to call me.  I stopped by the office to present court papers that would allow me to pick up my son's belongs, but "that" Trooper was nerver available. Yesterday was the first time I remember being able to leave a voice mail for him.  Apparently there is a break down in communication between the Trooper's phone line and the messages that are left.  It took all the courage I could muster to walk into the sation and through my tears I inquired.  At one point I was told the gun was in Anchorage being investigated.  The Trooper in charge of our son's case told me yesterday that it never left Ketchikan and is still at the station.  More mis-information to a grieving mother. After days of waiting for a return call from  the Trooper in charge of our son's case, I called and spoke with his supervisor who assured me that he would tell him he needs to call me.  He did not call until yesterday nearly a month between the request.  I was finally told that our son's case is waiting for the official coroner's report and is still open.  I even offered our son's cell phone to use in the investigation but the Trooper said he didn't need it when property officer called him in front of me.

Our son's girlfriend had a restraining order on the person who attcked our son after breaking into his home and it was reported.  I think today is his court date for that violation.  I will be interested to see what comes of it.  Our son's girlfriend went to court last week to ask for another restraining order against the person who continues to say terrible things about our son, threaten her by phone, is free to drive up and down Chandler Rd and yell things at our daughter and Jesse's love.  Her request for a restaining order was refused.  No Peace or Safety for them yet.

Where is the Peace and Safety supposed to be offered to those regular peaceful people by those sworn to protect and serve?  I read the papers, I know they are busy, but......................

In the early morning of August 3, 2013, as our son lay dying on his kitchen floor, the Medical Team had to wait out in the road for Troopers to secure the scene.  My husband, son and the neighbor lady went in the house and found our son cradled in the arms of his true love.  The scene was secure. Don't be lulled into a false sence of security that help will arrive in time for your loved ones either.

The Troopers know who beat up our son and contributed to his death, continued harassing him and now our daughter and her friend, Jesse's love, yet he is free to fish, run over other people's gear, steal skiffs and strip them, torment others, drive and breathe, in complete freedom.

Protect and Serve...........Who?
