Opportunity in Alaska House District 36 By Gavin Hudson September 09, 2014
His positions on economic development, fisheries, hydroelectric power, fiscal responsibility, resource management, transportation, infrastructure, and oil taxation are reasoned, thoughtful, and just. He is guided by a strong moral compass, and his positions are grounded in facts, rather than blind ideology. But you don t have to take my word for it, google him! Or better yet, talk to him face to face. He takes the time to visit every community and knock on every door. He loves meeting the people of our district. I know you will find him to be a good man. He's bright, intelligent, and curious. As an educator of 32 years, he has a proven history of being honest and forthright. Mostly, he CARES about the people of southeast Alaska. Dan Ortiz is moderate, measured, and sensible. These qualities stand in sharp contrast to his opponent, whose extreme right-wing ideology will surely leave Alaska broke, in debt, polluted, and devoid of opportunity for all except the corrupt oil barons. We cannot let that happen. Politicians should be a reflection of the people they are supposed to represent. Alaskan politicians should reflect the values of real Alaskans, which, in my view, are: abundant economic opportunity, self-sustaining, independent communities, and a tax system that utilizes our resources to the maximum benefit of us all, not just the rich and powerful. I believe Dan Ortiz reflects these Alaskan values and will represent us well in Juneau. Alaskans face an uncertain future. We need good people to make responsible decisions. He is the right person for the job. And he s one of the good guys! So I enthusiastically encourage you to vote for Dan Ortiz for Alaska State House. Thank you for your time and attention.
