Consolidation is the joining of the City of Ketchikan and the Ketchikan Gateway Borough into the Municipality of Ketchikan, a new Borough with the same components, just less "government". The Ketchikan Charter Commission, a body elected by the voters of the whole Ketchikan Gateway Borough, have been working toward consolidation for 1 1/2 years, with public meetings and comment.
