Each year the Friends of the Ketchikan Public Library annual book sale seems to take on a life of its own. Our sale this year was incredible, raising $5,200 for the Friends, and enabling our public library and the Schoenbar Middle School to purge old books, make some money - and most important - make space for more current offerings. Arlindo Machado did an outstanding job as book sale chair - he was everywhere in the planning, set up, organizing, and dismantling phases. The community owes Arlindo a big thank you. Volunteers are too numerous to mention, but we thank everyone who pitched in, but Arlindo did want to thank Glenda, Mark, Brad and Heidi for their exceptional help. The Friends will have an open house from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, at the Library as we continue to promote the need to plan for a new facility. Our Friends' Building Fund stands at over $100,000. Sincerely, Susan Fisher, FOTL President Received October 17, 2007 - Published October 18, 2007 Viewpoints - Opinion Letters:
