The board carefully evaluated user recommendations in deciding to provide a second round-trip on Fridays during the peak period, said Jones. Traffic figures for prior years show that demand peaks on Fridays. The schedule for single daily round-trips is departing Hollis at 8:00am for Ketchikan and departing Ketchikan at 3:30pm for Hollis. Cruising time is 3 hours. For the Friday double runs, departures from Hollis will be at 7:00am and 2:30pm, departing Ketchikan at 10:45am and 6:15pm. Service on the IFA's seasonal northern route between Coffman Cove, Wrangell and Petersburg will be a round-trip every Friday, Saturday and Monday, with an extended season from May 2 through September 29, 2008. These are the three days with the greatest need for service on this route, according to Jones. Departure from Coffman Cove is at 7:00am, arriving Wrangell at 9:45am and at Petersburg's S.Mitkof terminal at 11:45am. S.Mitkof departure is at 12:45pm, arriving Wrangell at 1:45pm and Coffman Cove at 5:30pm. Summer '08 fares will be the
same as '07 for both routes. A variable fuel surcharge applies.
The IFA's driver travels free program will not apply in the summer
season. Because it has a passenger capacity of 200, the M/V Stikine
will be assigned to the Hollis-Ketchikan run next summer, with
the 170 passenger M/V Prince of Wales serving the northern route,
stated Jones. Car deck capacity of both vessels is 30 standard
automobiles. Food and beverage service is provided on both ferries
by Prince of Wales Island based concession operators. Source of News:
