Thursday
Ketchikan, Alaska - The annual Friends of the Ketchikan Public
Library used book sale this month set another record in sales,
finishing the weekend with $5,485 in sales, membership dues and
donations.

books at the annual Friends of the Ketchikan Public Library used
book sale, Oct. 4-5 in Ketchikan. The event raised more than

The popular event is the largest single fundraising event for
the Friends of the Library and depends upon a huge cadre of volunteers,
including Teresa Chenhall, who organized this year's event. Several
local Boy Scouts and adults helped haul books from the storage
unit to the second floor of the Plaza mall prior to the sale.
Many volunteers then spent a day unpacking, sorting and stacking
the books. Glenda Steele is one of the stalwart volunteers, who
for years has donated many hours and her expertise each day of
the sale.
At the close of the sale, more
adult volunteers and a fleet of young adults from the library's
Teen Advisory Group (TAG) helped clean up and haul all the books
out of the Plaza.
