Gold Discovery

By David Boone

Representatives must sift through the ideas of hundreds of thousands of constituents. Each Senator represents literally millions. At least that's the way that it is supposed to work. To my mind it's like panning for gold, moving tons of dross to discover a few tiny flakes.

One of the problems is that the gods residing at the top of Mt. DC, are churning up vast quantities of slime, as they stomp around in search of personal advantage for themselves and their benefactors. As a result we have a government which cannot function day to day and a debt ceiling which must be constantly raised to avoid outright default. The old outcry of taxation without representation is arguably even more pertinent today than it was in Revolutionary times.

Hidden in the mud of the House Ways and Means Committee since 1999, is a little nugget called HR25, The FairTax Act. It's a plan to replace the Income Tax (IRS) with a national sales tax. $25 Million in top drawer economic research makes this plan far and away the best of all the plans being considered in Congress. You owe it to yourselves and to your grandchildren to find out what it's all about. Check out www.fairtax.org for details.

With all of the fool's gold coming out of Congress these days, isn't it time we got a look at the real thing?
