Open letter to Ketchikan City Council and Candidates

In July of 2013 the Ketchikan Daily News carried a story re: Cleveland’s Ariel Castro pleading guilty to imprisoning three women in his home, subjecting them to rapes and beatings for a decade. Castro told the judge, “My addiction to pornography and my sexual problem has really taken a toll on my mind.”

This is one of thousands of examples of how pornography has a negative impact on the lives of those who consume it and on the communities in which they live. Last month I spoke to the Ketchikan City Council about how I had switched my cable service years ago from GCI to KPU because GCI had put pornography on one of my favorite sports channels as a free introductory offer.

KPU invaded my TV last spring by sending me to their pornography advertisements when I simply wanted to change channels. I had full screen ads such as: Dirty Talking Master-bating Moms, Horny Young Housewives, Hot & Wet, All Girl porn Star, Sex Starved HIdden Camera.......etc.

No one on the council or from KPU or city administration replied to my concerns that the City of Ketchikan should NOT be in the Pornography Selling Business.

Are you Pro-Pornography or will you work to make KPU Porn-Free?

Kindly,

Rob Holston
