Bring Back "Made in America" By David Boone October 09, 2014
Proposed modern day solutions include a VAT, a "flat" tax, a federal consumption tax, and the perennial favorite, a tweak of the current code. Of all the options, only one gets at the core need of outright replacement of the income tax including the IRS. What's needed is the FairTax. The FairTax bill has been held captive in the House Ways and Means Committee since 1999. Whenever we send letters, we are usually answered with polite, boilerplate form letters that border on impertinence. It's the printed equivalent of what Charlie Brown hears when the teacher speaks. To the 84 members of Congress who have cosponsored HR25 and S122, consider yourselves exempt from this message. To the rest of you, ignorance of the FairTax bill is inexcusable after $23 million worth of research and countless pleadings from your "employers" from around the country. Why do you refuse to deal forthrightly with the FairTax? Could it be your obligations to special interests which are heavily invested in the status quo? When do we the people get a turn? If you are serious about bringing back jobs, and the "made in USA" label, you can redeem your poor rating, by the immediate passage of the FairTax bill. David Boone
