The Peoples' Representative: Dan Ortiz By Evan Wick October 23, 2014
Dan has first hand experience is several industries that are crucial to Southern Southeast Alaska. Dan has worked in the tourism and fishing industries. He paid his way through college by working at Ketchikan Pulp Co. He has served the youth and invested in the future of this community by serving as a teacher and coach. Being a former student of Dan s I can attest to his work ethic, specifically going the extra mile. I have seen him do this multiple times to make certain students had the support they needed for success. I am confident that Dan will continue to go the extra mile as our representative, to ensure that district thirty-six is represented well and receives the recognition in the legislature that we deserve. District thirty-six needs a candidate that is going to set party lines aside and get work done for the people and not for the party. With partisanship slowing down this country and state, we need a way to find bi-partisanship. Dan vows to work between the aisles and not be constrained to party beliefs. He will work for his constituent s beliefs, because an elected official s first responsibility is to those that he serves, not a political institution. We need a representative that has the knowledge, background, first hand experience and leadership in the issues that are of concern today. Dan Ortiz provides this for us. Please join me in voting for a strong, independent voice for district thirty-six. Evan Wick About: Ketchikan Resident Received October 21, 2014 - Published October 23, 2014
