Pro Walker By Bob Fultz October 27, 2014
I first became aware of the Walker family soon after arriving in Valdez in 1977 while in the Coast Guard and eventually worked for Bill's parents (Ed and Frances) a few years later. His mom and dad were some of the hardest working people in town that demanded respect and rightfully were chosen to be King and Queen for the annual Gold Rush days in 1981. Try to imagine living in a town that was essentially buried in snow (average annual snowfall is over 300") and then getting whacked by an earthquake and tsunami. It's pretty hard to wrap your mind around such events but after you do, you can see how anyone that endured such disasters would acquire a trait to know what it takes to survive and succeed. Based on Bill's upbringing, along with living in a community of pioneers with great work ethics who all collectively rolled up their sleeves to rebuild after that natural disaster, and with the construction of the pipeline and oil terminal in Valdez, there should be no question that he has what it takes to not only be Governor, but to be one of the all time greats. Please join me this November (or now with absentee ballots being accepted) and place your vote with Bill and Byron, the all Alaska "Unity Team". Thank you. Bob Fultz
