Dan Ortiz and The Accountability ProjectBy Paul Seaton October 19, 2016
The TAP spent more money than the candidates in my race attempting to elect an industry controllable candidate. The candidate they supported opposed eliminating the Cook Inlet oil tax credits which would take hundreds of millions of your Alaska savings dollars and give them to the oil industry as an unnecessary subsidy. The people of the Kenai Peninsula were not fooled and returned me to the legislature. It is clear this was not a party affiliation question in my race, but is their mode of attack against Dan Ortiz. I have worked with Rep. Ortiz and found him thoughtful, very focused on issues that promote the interest of his district, and unwilling to give your money away as corporate oil tax subsidies. I hope as you consider your candidates you will disregard the TAP attacks and send a representative to Juneau who will work to support a sustainable fiscal solution to our budget crisis and further revise the oil production tax credit drain on your savings accounts.
