Vote Dan OrtizBy Anne Lucas October 31, 2016
I've known Dan Ortiz for over 30 years - as a colleague and friend; as a loving husband to Lori; as a caring and involved father to their three children; and as an exemplary high school teacher and coach. During my long teaching career in Ketchikan, I've witnessed his skill at negotiating through compromise. His integrity and willingness to listen to all sides of an issue are attributes that are much needed in our state legislature today. We need a bipartisan majority to move forward and make the difficult cuts, as well as to institute new sources of revenue to create a sustainable budget. Dan is willing to do more than just take a look at these issues – he is prepared to take action during the next legislative session. In this year’s campaign for State House, there have been negative ads from outside political groups, which are supporting Dan’s Republican opponent. These out-of-town groups don’t understand folks here in Ketchikan. We dislike this sort of negative campaigning - especially because it is inaccurate and misleading. In contrast, Dan is being supported by in-state groups who do not use attack strategies. He is taking the high road in his campaign and standing on his record that shows he always works for the best interests of Ketchikan and all of District 36. Please join me in voting for Dad Ortiz, so that he can continue to effectively represent all of us in District 36. Sincerely, Anne Lucas Received October 28, 2016 - Published October 31, 2016
