Vote Tuesday, October 3rdBy Glen Thompson October 01, 2017
I had the pleasure of attending Chamber lunch last Wednesday and listened to the debate by six really good Assembly candidates. After careful consideration: I AM FORMALLY ENDORSING THE FOLLOWING CANDIDATES: Alan Bailey, Susan Pickrell, and Amanda Jo'an Foster-Pierce I worked on the Ketchikan assembly with Alan Bailey. He has 6-years (two terms) recent experience on the assembly and can hit the ground running. With three, long-term members leaving the body, having this prior knowledge of the budget, departments, personnel, issues, and workings of the borough is vital. Alan also is very thorough in his consideration of issues and he listens carefully to his constituents. He performed very well previously and I expect him to succeed again. Sue Pickrell also has considerable public service in her history and knows how to work effectively with boards and commissions. She brings life-long, local knowledge and experience to the table and she represents both multi-generational families and our native heritage. This will bring balance to the board. She also answered the question regarding the role of non-profit organizations correctly: the borough needs to determine its needs and then ask what organizations can most effectively fulfill them. AJ Pierce brings youth and the future to the table. She is refreshing, positive, energetic and has impressive business acumen. These are all qualities that our government needs as we continue into the future. Her ideas are novel and forward-looking based on growing up with advanced technology and the opportunities it creates. I also hear she knows how to turn a wrench! I expect great things from this young woman. The election is next Tuesday! Glen Thompson About:
