2018 Official Election Pamphlets Mailed to Alaskans This Week
October 12, 2018
(SitNews) Juneau, Alaska - This week, an estimated 379,000 registered Alaskan households will receive a paper copy of the 2018 Official Election Pamphlet (OEP) ahead of the November 6, 2018 General Election. The OEP consists of information and photos of candidates appearing on the ballot, judicial retention candidates, information on absentee voting and Ballot Measure 1 along with other various election related information. “We are thrilled to have engaging artwork from an Alaskan artist incorporated into this important source of compiled information our voters have ahead of the General Election,” said State Elections Director Josie Bahnke. “The pamphlets are a useful tool we use to connect with voters, so we hope they will take the time to read these booklets and go to their polling locations fully informed on Election Day.” There are four regional English pamphlets and one English/Tagalog/Spanish combined pamphlet. Additionally, the State of Alaska Division of Elections Language Assistance Program completed the OEPs in six dialects of Yup’ik, Cup’ig, and Gwich’in. Artist Pat Race, of Juneau, created this year’s cover images featuring Alaska themed animals including Dungeness Crab (Region I), Raven (Region II), Moose (Region III) and Walrus (Region IV). The combined OEP features the walrus from Region IV. Race also designed new “I Voted” stickers for voters participating in the General Election. The Absentee By-Mail request deadline is October 27.
